Check Engine

Privacy Policy

How Check Engine handles your data — simply and honestly.

Effective: April 2026

The short version: Check Engine stores all your vehicle data locally on your device only. The only data that ever leaves your device is anonymous crash reports, used solely to fix bugs. No accounts. No tracking. No ads.

Data Collection

Check Engine does not collect any personal data. We do not have access to any information you enter into the app.

All data you create — vehicles, service logs, fuel records, documents, and photos — is stored exclusively in your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

What We Store Locally

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted anywhere:

Vehicle details Service logs Fuel & charging records Documents Photos & attachments App preferences Reminders

Crash Reporting (Sentry)

Check Engine uses Sentry to automatically collect crash reports when the app encounters an unexpected error. This helps us identify and fix bugs to improve stability.

The following anonymous, non-personal information may be sent during a crash:

Device model and operating system version

App version and build number

Crash stack trace (technical error location in code)

Timestamp of the crash event

No personally identifiable information, vehicle data, or any content you have entered into the app is ever included in crash reports.

Sentry Privacy Policy

No Third-Party Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your data to any third party. The only external service used is Sentry for anonymous crash reporting, as described above.

The app does not use any advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or user tracking of any kind.

Notifications

Check Engine uses local push notifications only to remind you of upcoming service dates and expiring documents. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and are never routed through any external server.

You can enable or disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings.

Your Rights

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times. You can delete any record, vehicle, or all app data directly within the app, or by uninstalling the app entirely.

Deleting the app permanently removes all associated data from your device.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in the future, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
